*The six sparring partners all begin circling around Drew like a pack of wolves. Drew spins around trying to keep an eye on the all. Suddenly one rushes in and Drew greets him with a back elbow. No sooner does that connect than the other five try to rush him. Drew continues hitting them and dodging and spinning out of every attack. A few times various guys land good shots and it looks as if they are going to get the better of Drew but each time he wills himself out of the situation and fights his way out. Whre most men would have gotten caught and beaten down, Drew shows amazing heart and tenacity in surviving. Some come at him with lightning fast moves, some try to come off the top rope while Drew is busy with a few others. This continues on for almost a half an hour, far past what most other people would spar against one person, not to mention six going full speed. At the end all six are even more tired than Drew and two are still holding their necks from having taken Future Shocks from Drew and being laid out for almost half of the session. Then Drew brings in another sparring partner to run through a match with so he can practice offensively. Whereas most guys would be near spent after dodging and fighting off what Drew has for the past half hour, Drew has barely broken a sweat. He locks up with his training partner and proceeds to put on a wrestling clinic that even some of the sport's greatest technicians would be envious of. At first Drew's training partner had thoughts about asking him to lighten up a bit, but then remembers how important this is, and what all is at stake this being Drew's first Ring of Honor match, and the expectations that are on him because of it. So the man bites his tongue and keeps pushing Drew to be better and better. As the continue to spar, Drew runs through the most eclectic series of ground based moves and submissions that anyone has ever seen. Most people know him for his high impact moves, and every once in awhile he pulls one out, but this session is more about Drew refining the technical aspect of his repertoire more than anything. A variety of front and back suplexes, different variations of slams and even a few unique moves that Drew has made up that take those in the gym by surprise in that they have never seen these moves before. Drew wrestles a very bruising and punishing catch as can style made famous by men like William Regal and Fit Finlay. After the technical display, Drew helps his sparring partner to his feet and they shake hands. As the man heads to the showers, Drew decides to go for a run out back behind the gym through a small nature trail in the forest. He heads out and begins jogging through the forest. Noone really knows just how long he's gone for, and Drew isn't concerned with times or distances. This is just a fun wind down for him while getting some nice clean air. After awhile of running along, Drew reaches a clearing, where he sees some people off a ways playing in a park. He starts to continue his run, but is stopped when a few people holler out his name. He's too far away for them to run up and catch him but one of the women yells something about how she thinks he has a better body than even John Morrison and asks him to pose as she pulls out a camera. Drew half smiles at the compliment and decides why not. He strikes a pose and a few flashbulbs around the park go off.*
*Drew smiles as everyone waves and yells thank you's at him before continuing on his long jog through the woods. Finally he remembers that in a couple of hours he has a final commitment to IWW to finish out his last remaining open contract agreement. He gets his stuff together and hails a cab to take him a town over to the arena putting on the IWW show. He knew ahead of time it was to be a final match to defend the IWW World Title that he had won a couple of months ago, so he just figured they'd have him do the right thing and drop the title tonight. However when he gets there, he not only finds out that they are still putting him over but that his opponent is a man he knows very well and has worked with in the WWE as Kaval, now once again known as Low-Ki, the World Warrior. The booker tells Drew that he wants him to continue what he is doing with Ring of Honor hoping IWW will get the rub from the more popular and growing promotion. Drew gets ready and walks out for his match against Low-Ki wearing the IWW World Title. Next Low-Ki comes out and they quickly square off against each other.
*Drew and Low-Ki spend the next almost twenty minutes thrilling the crowd with explosive moves and counters the likes of which some of them have never seen before. Both men leave everything in the ring and work like a well oiled machine together. But in the end, Drew nails Low-Ki with the Future Shock and covers him for the 1...2...3 as the crowd excitedly counts along. They all break into a massive chorus of cheers as Drew gets up and celebrates being handed the IWW World Title. As he stands there composing himself, he waits until Low-Ki starts stirring and then helps him up. The two stare at each other for a few seconds before Low-Ki raises Drew's arm to a thunderous chorus of cheers. Drew takes it in and then slings the belt over his shoulder before calling for a mic.*
Drew: Well, ladies and gentleman, being that I've signed a contract with Ring of Honor, they were nice enough to let me fulfill my few remaining open contracts. And this was my last, but what a way to go out. On top as Champion. And where one Championship reign ends, another is going to begin very soon. But first I have to go through John Morrison. And honestly as far as that goes I have a confession to make. I was wrong about you! The thing is I'm not afraid to admit it. I was very, very wrong about you. I sat here and yes, I was joking around and referred to you as nothing more than a spot monkey. But you are so many other things than that, and I have to say that I am truly impressed with the new John Morrison that I'm seeing because I really didn't think that you had it in you to be so many things at the same time. The first thing that I caught that makes you so diverse now is the fact that you're a total and complete liar. I can only sit back and laugh at you. Now, honestly as a wrestler and as a competitor, I'll admit something tht something that you never will about me and that's fine. I DO actually have a modicum of respect for you as a performer and I know that this is going to be THE most highly contested, watched, and talked about match not just from Courage, but from any wrestling show you'll see on television this week. This match actually could be for the Ring of Honor Championship itself and I don't think the excitement or the drama could be any more palpable. And yet you have the unmitigated gall to stand out here and say that by me using an old promo of you is the only way I or Ring of Honor could generate any interest in this match. Are you really and truly that delusional John? Probably. But in the midst of all of that you're still a liar. First of all, if you honestly believe that either of us, win or lose, is walking out of this match the same way that we walked in, then you are even more deluded than your Palace of Wisdom crap and Jim Morrison wannabe-ness could ever belie. I know you're at the top of your game, truth be told, but John, so am I, and I much like it was in WWE, my game will always be better than yours. But you know, I'm just going to prove that to you at Courage, because after all the talking is done, after all the jokes and the insults and whatever, eventually we're going to get into that ring with each other. And rest assured, I'm not taking you lightly, but I am going to take you.
Another reason you're a liar is that you can't even be true to yourself and you show yourself for just how shallow of a person you are. One of your big arguments is that I'm doing too many autograph appearances and I'm spending too much time getting to know the people that pay their hard earned money to see us do what we do best. You say you don't understand why I've been doing that. You say that none of these people will be here when we're at the end of our careers and that we're just going to be nothing to them. If that's the case John, then why are you even out here? Why are you putting on the tights and even trying to get a moment's worth of glory if that's what you truly believe? I don't hold to that. Much like I know what I can do in the ring, I'm confident with who I am as a person. I believe in the integrity of this sport. Some people believe it's gone and that it can never be gotten back. But if noone tries, it never will. That's why I'm going to be that man. This is one match. My first match here in ROH, but this is where it will all start. Look at how people view a legend like the Undertaker, the breaths that he is spoken in now. Do you remember the Survivor Series he made his debut at as a member of Ted DiBiase Sr.'s team? I'm sure you do. Do you remember the main event of the very first Monday Night Raw when it was him versus Damien Demento? I'm saying all of that to say this. It's about the Legacy, John. No one match between us here and now may not mean alot to some people. But ten to twenty years from now, I will be spoken of in the same volumes as the men and women we consider legends today. I will leave a legacy behind that many will try to live up to but few will ever get close to. And as far as these people not taking care of me or not being there at the end, well, John, then you truly don't understand this business at all. We are shining stars. We burn brightly and then someday it's gone. I know the truth of that. But it's up for each of us to take care of ourselves. I'm out here to entertain and to be the best for as long as I can, and to build that legacy here in ROH from the ground up, not to set up a retirement where I want a bunch of hand outs at the end of my life. All of this could end for either of us at any moment and that's something no one wants to think about, but for the time I'm here I'm going to PROVE that I am the man to carry Ring of Honor and this sport in general on my back. That's why I have to laugh when I hear you say that I'm not putting in the time and effort to prepare for our match and to prepare for the unholy war that's going to break out when we face each other. John, if you had at all truly been paying attention to my life that was shown you'd have seen just a small snippet that I am indeed. You make like I'm going to be no sweat for you, and honestly I think you've taken me a little bit lightly, which has always been your problem. But even with your great speeches about how you're going to destroy me and you're going to do this and you're going to do that, inside you're scared, John. I think now, you are just starting to realize exactly who you're up against and what kind of man you're up against. This isn't just a case of I'm going to be better than you, or I'm going to outlast you. Morrison, I refuse to lose to you on any level, and that's not a decision that you have any say so in whatsoever. You could hit me with a hundred Moonlight Drives, a thousand Starship Pains, and I will keep kicking out and getting up every single time. And I think if you're honest with yourself, somewhere in the back of your mind you know this to be true. That's why when you were taking me lightly you were content just to come out here and do a little dirt sheet, make a few jokes, and think that that would be enough to send me running back to Ayr with my tail tucked between my legs. But once you saw that I was not only going to NOT back down, but that I am going to bring the fight to you worse than anyone ever has in your entire life, and that I have the talent and the where-with-all to be better than you, inside it made you scared. You'll never admit it. But inside you were like "Wow I never knew he had this in him. I had better step up my game." So you bring the cameras into your gym, and you show yourself feverishly working out trying to show a more serious side to John Morrison. Well, Johnny boy, don't ever confuse the fact that I've become a man of the people for the fact that I'm not serious. Regardless of what jokes I make or have made, I take you just as seriously as I do every other opponent. That's why the end result is that I win, and I will keep winning.
I know I've gotten inside your head John. It's a fact. You see, I'm just as level headed and ready for Courage as I was before. I am ready to beat you and to take that next step towards greatness. I am ready to face off against the winner of Wade Barrett and Austin Aries for the right to represent this company as its standard bearer. I always am prepared and I always do my homework. You on the other hand, for all of your posturing that you're ready for what lies ahead, you've let your concentration break several times. You call my finisher the Scot Drop when it's known as the Future Shock. You say I haven't done anything to prepare myself for our match and in that respect you absolutely couldn't be more wrong. If you had truly been watching everything I've done and been paying attention as closely as you've pretended to rather than having a selective memory you'd have seen that wasn't the case. But even apart from that, I am ready. For one I was born ready for anything I have to face both in and out of this ring, but whereas you are more interested in what the cameras see, with me it's what you don't see that you should be concerned about. I have done more to prepare not just for our match, but for my entire time here in ROH than you could possibly imagine. I realize what a heavy burden it is going to be to not only be the standard bearer of this company but also to represent these people as a Champion no matter what title I have on my waist. And I am ready for all of it.
That's the biggest difference between us John. I am real. I am what I've always said I would be, the future of this industry and the standard bearer. You are a phony. Sure, you're a very talented phony, so much so that you have pulled the wool over so many people's eyes. But I here for the long haul, John. Both as a wrestler and as a person. These people had loved you because you came out putting on a great show with fancy manuevers, whether or not there was anything else behind it, but then they began to see through you. You were always a big fish in little ponds. Now you cross over to oceans where you find that the big fish you thought you were is nothing more than just medium sized, and that you are not nor will you ever be the kind of person you led yourself to believe you were going to be. You're a good solid talent, but you're no legend and you never will be. You say that I'm no problem and you are so far ahead of me, yet you go out of your way after the dirt sheet to try to show me all of the sudden what I'm supposedly in for. Go back and look at my track record, Morrison. Unlike you, I'm not doing anything different than I was before. This is who I am. This is who I will always be. And that is what makes me better.
You know I really didn't want to turn this thing with AJ into a public spectacle. I merely saw a woman who is beautiful inside and out that I wanted to get to know a little better. Not for a story, not for a match, but for real. And although she is free to make her own decisions, and I am ok with that, I think you have her just a little bit buffaloed as well, just like you did all of these people. You come in with all flash and style, and I know to alot of the women out there being the bad guy seems sexy and dangerous. But if that's the choice she makes what then John? Are you going to be there at 3am when she has a real problem after a year and you've both seen every side to each other good and bad? You see, that's the kind of commitment I give to this business. I'll still be here when the newness and the sexiness wears off and I will still do the things that it takes to be number one. I'm not saying AJ is automatically that woman. I don't know. I merely asked her out on one date. But you wanted to turn this into a public spectacle, the ultimate show of insecurity. I don't think you have the staying power to stick it out in any respect, whether in this sport or in life. You're in this for the bigger, better deal every single time. You criticize me for getting to know the fans and spending time with them and yet you do the same thing and are so selective about who you do it with. Just because someone is wearing a shirt you don't like you blow them off. You say you're about more than looks and yet the only person you do interact with is looks based. You say you don't care what these people think, yet you go out of your way to insult them and belittle them. When I didn't care, I simply ignored them. I didn't let them get to me. Now, I agree with them. I see that they know talent, desire, and a true man and champion when they see one. So yes I've taken it to heart too. You? You're a double talker and a liar. Is that really the kind of person AJ wants to associate with? That's a question only she can answer. But much like I am in this ring, I am unwavering and am the same person through and through. You won't beat me, Morrison. No matter what you I promise you it won't be good enough, and that's a painful fact that you're going to learn at Courage. But as for now I am abdicating and retiring as an undefeated IWW World Champion, and rest assured I will not be without a title for long.
*With that, Drew folds up the title straps and hands it over to the referee. He waves and raises his arms a final time as the crowd chants his name and gives him a very warm reception for a send off. Drew goes back to the back and after showering again he hails another cab to go back to his hotel. When he gets back, he checks with the front desk to see if there's any mail and sure enough there's a letter waiting for him. Since he's been there for almost a week now and is only going to be there tonight to get ready to leave to go to the Courage event itself, Drew takes the letter and heads up the elevator to his room. There, he sits down in a chair and opens the letter much to his own shock, it's from his ex, Taryn Terrell, who had been known to wrestling fans as Tiffany. The letter reads...*
"Drew, it's been a few months and I've had some time to reflect. I don't know your feelings on the matter because we haven't talked since our last fight, but I am really and truly sorry for how things ended between us. If I could take it all back I would in a second. But I can't. All's I can do is move forward. I guess I really hope that this isn't a permanent ending between us. I heard that there may be something going on between you and AJ. If there is I hope she treats you right and doesn't make the same mistakes I did in taking you for granted. You treated me better than any man I've ever been with. Noone in this world knows you like I do, although from what I see, now that you're getting to be more yourself, I think finally the world is going to get to see the real Drew McIntyre that I fell in love with. Enclosed are some pictures that I found from our last vacation and I hope maybe they remind you of what we had, and maybe someday of what I hope we can have again."
*Drew takes out the pictures and solemnly looks through each one of them.*
*After a few minutes of reflecting, Drew sets the pictures on a nearby table and picks the letter back up and keeps reading*
"I miss you. I don't know what directions our lives are going to take us. I know we both have very busy schedules, and soon I'm sure you're going to find a way to be the Ring of Honor Champion. I know you have it in you. Maybe life might not lead us back together but I know I don't want all of this to end like it did. So for my part, I'm deeply and truly sorry. I wish I was in the position that AJ seems to be in, and for the sake of the heart that I treasure I hope she makes the right decision. But no matter what I'll always be here if you need me. -Love, Taryn.
*Drew puts his head down for a minute and finally he decides to head out and just relax for the night. Leaving his rental car he travels down to the lobby and asks them to hail a cab. He takes it over to a local restaurant and much to his surprise as soon as he walks in he hears a very familiar voice bellow out his name from a table by the window. Drew looks up and instantly a smile comes across his face as he recognizes a few of his old WWE friends including Dolph Ziggler and Nikki Bella. Drew walks over to the table and shakes hands with everyone.*
Drew: Hey guys what are you all doing here?
Dolph: Not much man. WWE has an event coming up not too far from here so we came here to kick back and relax for awhile. What are you doing here?
Drew: Well I was staying at a hotel near here while I was wrapping up a few things like a few verbal commitments and training for my first ROH match against John Morrison. And then earlier tonight I got a letter from Taryn and I don't know. She's talking like maybe she wants to get back together, but there's a lot of history there and not all of it's good.
Nikki: Well join us Drew. The more the merrier and it'll probably help take your mind off of all of this other stuff. You'll kick Morrison's ass. And as far as women well, take it from one, you'll drive yourself crazy if you try to figure us out.
*Everyone laughs as Drew joins them at the table and for the next several hours the gang talks about the good times they had and hopefully how someday they'll all be able to see each other and travel down the road on a more permanent basis again working for the same company, perhaps all of them in ROH someday. A photographer comes by and gets a shot of everyone mugging for the camera together.*
*Finally Drew says his goodbyes to his friends and takes another cab to the back. After a very eventful week, it was good to relax and take his mind off of everything and now more than ever he feels he's ready to defeat John Morrison with a clear mind, body, and soul, and take his rightful place among the ROH elite. Drew shuts the door to his hotel room after getting back and gets some sleep before he has to leave in the morning to travel to fulfill what he feels is his rightful destiny.*

*At a local gym, Drew McIntyre walks in and changes out to begin working with several other guys in the gym tohelp him train not just or his upcoming match with John Morrison, but also with what he feels will be his impending match thereafter for the ROH Championship. Drew gets into the ring and meets all of the guys individually and then has them all come into the ring at once to talk to them about the day's events.*
Drew: Ok, today's sparing session will be about speed and manueverability. Two of Morrison's better assets are his speed and agility. And I am going to outclass him in every respect at Courage. So you six are going to continuously come at me from every direction at once, trying to represent the kind of speed and agility he possesses. Don't hold back, try to hit me, beat me down, keep me down, whatever you can do. Ok, let's go.
